•December 18, 2008 • Leave a CommentFor my final project, I did a theme around the state’s tourism department, Visit Nebraska. I created my own logo by using shapes and the pen tool in Illustrator, imported it into Photoshop, and added text. I also used a gradient fill in the original, but it looked bad with the black background so I changed it to solid red. The three photos on the bottom were used from the materials provided to us, and I added effects in Photoshop such as hue, contrast, brightness, and other effects. I put the whole thing in a half-page InDesign guide, and exported it as a jpeg.

Checkpoint
•November 24, 2008 • Leave a CommentSo far in Digital Design I have learned quite a bit. I’ve learned photo manipulation tricks I wasn’t previously aware of, I have become a lot more proficient with the pen tool, I have familiarized myself with Adobe Illustrator and learned a number of things within it. I hope to continue learning about InDesign as it is not something I have worked very closely with in the past. I have never really taken an interest in working with print design, but it is fun to learn about anyway. I’m not sure what I am going to do for my final project, but I’m going to try to incorporate all three applications in it.
Logo Tutorial

I thought this tutorial was really cool because it used the 3D techniques we learned and apply it to logos, which we are working on. I tried it and it’s fairly easy to follow.
13 Lessons
•November 3, 2008 • 1 CommentThe 13 Lessons to Teach Your Child About Digital Photography article was actually pretty interesting. I wish it was something my parents were interested in when I was growing up so I would have a better foundation now.
The first tip that I thought was good was “Get in Close”. Nearly everyone with a digital camera loves to take pictures, but is too timid to walk up to the front of a Church or to an interesting piece of scenery to really capture an image.
The other tip I thought was good was “Take a lot of Pictures”. When I take pictures I usually take two or three and move on, but getting 30 from different angles means you’re a lot more likely to get “just the right shot”.
